In collaboration with the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets, State Veterans Counselors with the New York State Division of Veterans’ Affairs are offering FreshConnect checks to Active Duty members, Veterans and their immediate family members, as well as un-remarried surviving spouses of Veterans.

Certain Veterans who left high school without graduating are eligible to earn New York State high school diplomas.

Article 5, section 6 of the New York State Constitution was amended to entitle veterans who have used non-disabled veteran credits for a Civil Service appointment or promotion and who were/are subsequently certified as being a disabled veteran by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs, to additional credits for

The Hire-a-Vet Credit encourages the hire of qualified Veterans. Businesses must employ a qualified Veteran for no less than 35 hours per week for one full year.

For those Veterans with a 70% or greater service connected disability rating, the Department of Veterans Affairs will pay 100% of the cost of care at a State Veterans Home. (38 U.S.C.  § 1745).
