The New York State Division of Veterans’ Services today announced the installation of two new digital Veterans Welcome Center Kiosks at the Adirondack Welcome Center in Queensbury and the Finger Lakes Welcome Center in Geneva. The new kiosks expand the state's network of DVS Veterans Welcome Center Kiosks, building on previously installed kiosks in the Capital Region, Long Island, and Tompkins County. Governor Hochul announced an initiative to install these digital veterans assistance tools around the state as part of her 2022 State of the State agenda, and allocated $50,000 for the FY23 Budget for the purchase and installation of additional kiosks. The new kiosks installed in January bring the total number of kiosks currently installed around the state to five. These Veterans Digital kiosks provide specialized information and assistance to Veterans, Service members, and their families throughout New York State.
New York State Division of Veterans’ Services Director Viviana DeCohen said, “I am thrilled to announce the expansion of the Digital Veterans kiosks into the Adirondacks and Finger Lakes. The continued support of Governor Hochul’s administration in creating these Veterans' information kiosks in New York State demonstrates New York’s commitment to its Veterans and their families. This platform provides an important opportunity to present Veterans with accessible information about the benefits they earned in service to our State and Nation.”
The New York State Division of Veterans’ Services, in collaboration with the New York State Office for the Aging (OFA), New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH), New York State Office of General Services Division of Service-Disabled Veterans' Business Development (OGS SDVOB), New York State Department of Labor (DOL), and the State Universities of New York (SUNY) created the digital kiosks to serve as a gateway for Veterans to learn about the programs and services they may be eligible for because of their military service. The newly built kiosks will enhance awareness of local, state, and federal offerings for Veterans and their families. This includes the over 60 unique State Veterans benefits that are currently available across State agencies.
In addition to the new kiosks at the Adirondack Welcome Center and Finger Lakes Welcome Center, Veterans Digital kiosks are also installed at the following locations:
- Long Island Welcome Center on the Long Island Expressway in Dix Hills
- Tompkins County Airport in Ithaca
- Capital Region Welcome Center in New Baltimore
