New York State Division of Veterans’ Services Announces Recipients Of New York State’s Assistance and Support for Veterans' Programs Grant

The Division of Veterans’ Services is pleased to announce eight recipients of New York State’s Assistance and Support for Veterans' Programs Grant. This grant will provide much-needed funding to not-for-profit organizations who provide direct assistance to veterans, service members and their families with a focus on those who are justice-involved or are at a heightened risk of criminal justice involvement.

Albany Housing Coalition, Veterans Advocacy Project, Homeward Bound Adirondacks, Veterans Rebuilding Life, Corning Council for Assistance and Information to the Disabled Inc., New York State Defenders Association’s Veterans Defense Program, Rockland Independent Living Center, and Clear Path for Veterans will receive $50,000 apiece from New York State to create or enhance direct services that will address the immediate needs of veterans, service members and their families who are facing barriers to access and services as well as the justice gap confronting many individuals who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces.

Each recipient organization has the possibility of renewing this grant for an additional $50,000 award for each for up to five years.

This grant will allow these organizations to provide crisis counseling, pro-bono legal services, mental health treatments, housing opportunities and referrals to appropriate resources that can best meet the needs of this unique populations. These organizations have years of experience delivering services to veterans and their families to ensure they are not only accessing all the benefits they earned from their military service but also ensuring other barriers that may exist for justice-involved veterans are also addressed.

This grant program provides us with a meaningful opportunity to support organizations who are experts in their fields in addressing the myriad of challenges that our veterans face. We look forward to continuing to elevate their outstanding work in our shared work to serve New York’s veterans, service members and their families.”
