Veteran Identification Card (VIC)

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) provides eligible Veterans with a Veterans Identification Card (VIC) for use at VA medical facilities. The VIC protects the privacy of Veterans' sensitive information. The VIC only displays the Veteran's name, picture, and special eligibility indicators - Service Connected, Purple Heart and Former POW, if applicable, on the front of the card. Only Veterans who are eligible for VA medical benefits will receive the card.

Numerous New York State counties offer Veterans IDs and maintain lists of private companies offering discounts and benefits.  This is unrelated to any services provided by the VA.  These programs are administered by County Veteran Service Agencies.
