- Did you serve on active duty at any time between August 1, 1953, and December 31, 1987?
- Were you stationed at Camp Lejeune for at least 30 days during that time period?
If the answer to both questions is “yes,” then you were exposed to contaminants in the water supply at Camp Lejeune and may be eligible for disability compensation due to this exposure.
In 2022, the Camp Lejeune Justice Act established a cause of action for Veterans who served for at least 30 days at Camp Lejeune during this time to bring a lawsuit against the federal government for illnesses or injuries associated with toxic water exposure. This does NOT refer to a claim for disability compensation, but rather a lawsuit in federal district court. If you are receiving VA disability compensation benefits for a medical condition associated with toxic water exposure at Camp Lejeune, the federal government can offset this compensation by the amount of money received in a verdict or settlement from a lawsuit brought under the Camp Lejeune Justice Act.
Medical conditions linked with exposure to these contaminants in the water include:
- Adult Leukemia
- Aplastic Anemia
- Bladder Cancer
- Kidney Cancer
- Liver Cancer
- Multiple Myeloma (cancer that attacks your plasma cells)
- Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma
- Parkinson’s Disease
Our Veterans Benefits Advisors will gladly prepare and file your claim for disability compensation based on exposure to contaminants in the water at Camp Lejeune.
