Who We Are
Mission

The New York State Department of Veterans’ Services (DVS) helps Veterans and their families get the benefits they have earned through military service.

DVS offers free help with Veterans’ benefits. Our Veterans Benefits Advisors work in offices across New York State. Every advisor is a Veteran. They understand military service and the challenges Veterans and families may face.

Viviana DeCohen

Appointed in December 2021, a Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, Viviana DeCohen became the Commissioner of the New York State Department of Veterans’ Services.
