Free hunting/big game, fishing and trapping licenses are available to New York State residents who have the appropriate Sportsmen Education and are active service members of the military.

Under the Patriot Plan the following free license types are available:

Veterans may be entitled to receive additional credit toward retirement for your military service through New York State and Local Retirement System.

Through the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), Veterans can qualify to be exempt from registration fees and vehicle plate fees if:

The New York State Department of Labor (DOL) gives Veterans priority service in all New York State employment and training programs. This priority service is guaranteed in federal law and by the New York State Veterans Bill of Rights for Employment Services.

Experiences from a wartime military service can change how an individual feels and acts, notably returning Veterans from War Zones and Combat Experiences.

A United States flag is provided, at no cost, to drape the casket or accompany the urn of a deceased Veteran who served honorably in the U. S. Armed Forces. It is furnished to honor the memory of a Veteran’s military service to his or her country.

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) administers numerous benefits and service programs for Veterans and their families. Some of these include burials, headstones and markers, presidential memorial certificates, cemeteries, Nationwide Gravesite Locator, burial flags, and burial allowance.

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veteran’s Health Administration (VHA) is responsible for providing healthcare to military Veterans.  The VA’s comprehensive medical benefits package offers care and services that are designed to promote good health, preserve current health, and restore better health.

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) provides eligible Veterans with a Veterans Identification Card (VIC) for use at VA medical facilities. The VIC protects the privacy of Veterans' sensitive information.
